D. From the church in Le Brugeron, follow the road to the right and take the road on the left 50m before the D102. Just before the D37, take the path climbing to the right to the village of Bien. Cross the hamlet, staying on the road to the right. On leaving the hamlet, at the fork, branch onto the track on the right. At the forest track, turn right and continue to the fork.
1. Then climb the sharply bending track to the left as far as the D102 and follow it to the left. Next, branch onto the first track heading left into the woods. Continue on the main track to the clearing at Croix du Pirou. Then follow the forest track to the left for 2km (shortcut: take the track straight ahead to reach the road). Keep to the main track, which climbs again after crossing the Sapet stream. Continue uphill on the main track to the buron at Chez Ferré.
2. Turn right and continue to the junction of several tracks. Then take the track heading right and follow it to Croix de Sainte-Anne. At the cross, take the path climbing to Puy-Gros on the right (views of the Chaîne des Puys, the Massif du Sancy, the Monts du Forez and the Monts du Livradois). Continue on the path descending on the other side until you rejoin the forest track, then follow it to the left.
3. By a jasserie, descend the track on the right until you reach another forest track. Follow this track to the left until you return to the D102. Follow the road to the right, pass the cross-country skiing centre and take the first vehicle track on the left. Then branch right and stay on the track to the village of Les Echelettes.
4. At the D102, follow it to the left for 20m, then turn onto the first surfaced road on the right. The road becomes a track and emerges onto the D102 by the village of L’Arbre. Take the D102 straight ahead. At the fork with another surfaced road, take the road straight ahead. Pass the reservoirs and continue downhill to Le Brugeron to return to the starting car park.
