Départ : Dans le village, au niveau de l’école. Prendre la route de la Guillermie sur la gauche.
1. Prendre, après une centaine de mètres, le premier chemin à droite. Au premier carrefour, laisser la piste de droite et descendre à gauche.
2. À la route, prendre la D101 direction «La Guillermie», franchir le ruisseau de «la font Noire» et prendre le chemin qui monte à droite, puis le premier chemin à gauche qui monte dans la hêtraie (vue sur la vallée de la Chervière et, par temps clair sur les montagnes de l’ouest). Monter toujours par le même chemin.
3. Au hameau de Chossières, continuer tout droit, puis au carrefour suivant, prendre à droite pour passer derrière une ancienne scierie (bâtiment en bois). Au premier carrefour, continuer tout droit et au suivant, prendre à gauche.
4. On passe devant le hameau des Robinots. À la route, prendre celle-ci à gauche pour aller jusqu’à la Plantade (limite extrême nord du département du Puy-de- Dôme et du PNR Livradois-Forez).
5. Traverser la route pour monter direction Châteldon.
6. À Philibin (belle architecture de granit), prendre entre deux maisons à gauche direction le Thuel (très belle vue à droite) que l’on traverse.
7. À la sortie du hameau, prendre le chemin de droite. Dans la descente, à un carrefour, prendre le chemin à plat à gauche, et laisser le chemin qui descend à droite. Dans un virage à droite, laisser le chemin qui part à gauche et continuer à descendre à droite jusqu’au ruisseau que l’on traverse deux fois.
8. Traverser la route pour continuer à monter par le chemin en face. À la route suivante, prendre à droite pour rejoindre le point de départ.

From Lachaux to Étang de Malforêt
Start: From the main square in Lachaux, follow the D63 to the left towards Lachaux town hall. At the junction of several roads, head onto the D331 towards La Guillermie. Just before the village of “Plan Pannetier”, turn onto the track on the left towards “La Querie”. Continue straight ahead to the D63. Cross it and take the road opposite. Cross the village of “Plan Bigay” and continue descending on a track until you rejoin the D63. Follow it to the left for 20m, then descend a path on the right. Stay on the main track to Croix des Peux. 1 - Cross the D63 again and take the vehicle track straight ahead. At the fork, continue on the lower track. Stay on the main track as it climbs to the left. At the T-junction, take the track continuing uphill to the right. By the village of “Chez Duret”, the track becomes a road. Then cross the village of “Chez Pion” and, at the junction with a picnic table, continue to the right to the village of “Terrasson” (view of the Chaîne des Puys). In the centre of the village, take the track on the right between the houses. 2 - At the surfaced road by the sports ground, follow it to the right. 300 m after the right-hand hairpin bend, turn onto the road on the left towards the village of “Les Caves”. Pass alongside the village, following the track to the right. Continue on the main track until you reach a broad track. Follow it to the left to Étang de Malforêt. Follow the entire length of the pond on its left. Then continue on the main surfaced road. 3 - After 1 km, take the track climbing to the left straight ahead. Stay on the main track to the surfaced road. Turn right onto the road and continue straight ahead to the D43. Follow it to the left for 80 m, then turn onto the first road on the right towards the village of “Chez Morel”. In the centre of the village, take the road on the left. It passes between the houses and becomes a track. Stay on the main track to the village of “La Vignole Basse”. Descend the road to the right as far as the D63. 4 - Cross it and take the track straight ahead. At the next junctions, continue on the track straight ahead to the village of “Le Sapet”. At the T-junction in the centre of Le Sapet, take the road climbing to the left. Stay on the main road through the village of “La Bretonne”. 500 m after the village of “La Bretonne”, take a track on the left. Stay on the main track as it descends and then climbs to the village of “Gimet”. Continue uphill on the road to the right to the D63. Cross it and take the vehicle track opposite. At the T-junction, turn onto the track on the right until you rejoin the D63. Follow it to the left into Lachaux and continue straight ahead to return to the starting car park.

From Montpeyroux to Pas du Loup
Start: From the town-hall car park in Paslières, head towards the D906. Cross it and take the paved road opposite. At the fork in La Croix Rouge, keep left on the main road to the D85. Follow it left towards Montpeyroux, with its former abbey. 1. Climb the paved road on the right after the restaurant. Pass between two houses as the road becomes a track. Continue straight to La Vernelle, then turn right on the road to Le Canelier. Cross the village and take the road left beside a well. At the next T-junction, climb left to Fagot Marnat. 2. In the village, continue left and follow the sharp bend right. At the four-way junction, take the track left. At the fork, continue uphill right for 150 m, then turn onto the track right beside the private-property sign. Keep to the main track to Bois Blanchet. At the bottom of the descent, take the track left and continue to Pas du Loup. 3. Descend on the track right, pass a reservoir and continue straight to the paved road. Cross it and take the track opposite to the D85. Cross and continue straight on the main track to La Croix Rouge. Take the road left and continue to the D906. Cross it to return to the town-hall car park.
