Start from Place de la Victoire. Descend the steps alongside the community hall, which lead into Parc de Lasdonnas. At the bottom of the steps, follow the path on the left. Continue to the junction with Rue du 11 Novembre (formerly Rue des Tanneries), then turn right. Head towards the bridge and take the steps climbing to the right. Cross the Dore River on the pavement beside the D 906, then after 30 m descend the steps again on the right alongside the bridge. Pass beneath the bridge and continue on the narrow path. You arrive in front of Chapelle du Pont (a historic monument). Cross the square, then reach the D 58 via Rue Jules Romains. Follow the D 58 to the left, then pass beneath the railway bridge.

1. 20 m after the bridge, take the road on the right towards Camping des Taillades (Allée des Taillades). At the fork, continue to the right on the surfaced road (campsite-swimming pool). Pass alongside the campsite and continue on the same road.

2. 250 m further on, just after a white house, ignore the road on the right leading to Le Chambon and take the track straight ahead. Continue for about 150 m and, when the track becomes a road, turn right. By the lake, continue on the track to the right to reach the hamlet of Le Salet; cross the bridge on your right, then immediately turn left. 10 m further on, at the fork, follow the narrow path alongside the stream (well springs).

3. Retrace your steps, then take the first track on the right climbing through the woods. At the road, turn right. In Puissauve, ignore the road heading left and continue through the village. 150 m further on, just after the blue house, turn left. Pass between the houses and follow the track through the fields.

4. At the junction, turn left (fine 360° viewpoint: Château de Vollore-Ville and Puy de Chignore on your right, the Forez ridges behind you and the Chaîne des Puys straight ahead. You can also see Thiers and Courpière). Follow the D 7 to the left and, 100 m further on by the iron cross, take the road on the right, then immediately turn left. Reach the television relay mast.

5. Take the road to the left in front of the relay mast, Rue de Montiouyol (viewpoint over Courpière). At the fork, continue on the road to the right and descend for 300 m. Join another road and follow it to the left. Descend through the hamlet of La Côte Bonjour to the “Stop” sign. The town of Courpière, seen from Le Bouchet. Take Avenue du Grün de Chignore to the right and follow it to the railway bridge (point 1). Return to the starting point by the same route used on the outward journey.

Very nice, varied marked circuit, which alternates descents and climbs on paths presenting several technical passages (deep ruts, slopes, small screes). In particular, you should be particularly vigilant during the first descent between Ollières and the Mégain bridge, especially if you have not had the opportunity to warm up a little beforehand. The circuit then runs along the western part of Lake Aubusson before passing near the Notre-Dame d'Espinasse chapel built just above a miraculous spring from which water springs which can treat and cure certain skin diseases such as eczema...

Departure: church square. Walk past the church then follow the road to the railway line. Before this, turn right and follow the street for 500 m. Head towards the D 906. Cross it to take the road opposite, be careful of fast traffic (direction la Brousse). Turn left and join La Brousse. 1. In the hamlet, take the path on the left, just after the fountain. Continue on this same path to the village of Chaumies (viewpoint over the Forez mountains). At the first houses, take the path opposite. The path becomes a road that we always follow. At the last house, leave the road and take the path opposite. Leave the first path on the right which goes down into the woods. 2. At the top of the hill, at the crow's feet, take the path on the right (viewpoint). Go down towards the stream and continue along the same path. Arriving at the road, turn right towards the hamlet of l'Eschalier. At the first houses, turn left to join the road. Cross it to take the small road opposite. 3. At the transformer, turn right onto the road then, 150 meters further, follow the D44 on your left for approximately 1.5 km. 4. At the cross, continue to the right on the D 308 and join the D 906 (be careful of fast traffic). Cross it to reach the church square in Néronde-sur-Dore.
